Mother Gertrude Rose Harvey was born to Edward Howard and Mary Elkins-Howard, on April 21, 1919, in Decatur Illinois. She was the youngest of seven Children. Mother Harvey was educated in the Decatur public school system. She loved socializing with friends and family, and was known as an immaculate house keeper. Mother Harvey always loved the church, and believed in a strict adherence to the biblical principles of holiness. She met and married the love of her life, Charles Harvey Jr. on September 12, 1934. To that union were born two children; Velma Gertrude and Gene Edward.
Mother Harvey was a member of the First Church of God In Christ, Eastside Church of God In Christ, Community Temple Church of God In Christ, in Decatur. In October of 2006 Mother Harvey along with her late husband moved to Columbus, Ohio where she joined the Faith Tabernacle Church of God in Christ and was a faithful member until her health began to fail.
On the evening of May 22nd , surrounded by her family, Mother Harvey was called from labor to reward, and peacefully departed this earthly realm.
Mother Harvey was preceded in death by her husband; Elder Charles Harvey, and son; Gene Edward Harvey. She leaves at her passing one daughter; Velma Gertrude Rogers, four grandchildren; Pastor Charles Rogers (Leisa), Donald Wayne Harvey (Lorena), Terri Maxwell (Bill), Corey Dwayne Rogers (Christine), Nieces; Vondell Kennerbrew, Dr. Bridget Steel (Orendeff), Karen Fason, Nephews; Richard Williams, Peter Harvey, eight great-grandchildren, three-great-great grandchildren, and a host of other nieces and nephews.
